We developed two contemporary performances. An Aerial Rope piece performed beneath the canopy of a tree and a duet on the Libel – a unique and sculptural apparatus which rotates for an acrobatic performance with mesmerising choreographic movement.
The Libel was originally designed by Mädir Eugster Rigolo of Swiss Nouveau Cirque, the apparatus was introduced to Aotearoa by acclaimed aerialist and original Libel artist Jenny Ritchie. The Aotearoa iteration of Libel was further developed in collaboration between Jenny and Movement of the Human.
It was a delightfully collaborative process to settle on these performances which needed to match the beauty of the environment, the theme ‘ shifting perspectives’ and the tone of the event which was a fundraiser for the CatWalk Spinal Injury Trust. The site specific works nestled into an immaculate garden estate for the guests to discover ad they roamed the garden.
