Adrift was inspired by the exposed infrastructure of the Hikitia visible from the wharf and the original music of Sharn Te Pou which was performed live.
This project posed huge logistical, creative and rigging challenges and genuinley wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and support of all the collaborators. A special shout out to the Maritime Heritage trust, we are overwhelmingly grateful for their support which made this vision possible.
On the weekend of the performances the weather and the crowds absolutely turned out! The scale of the crane and the talent of the artists made for an increbile and moving spectcle.
Adrift debuted as part of “What if the City was a Theatre?” festival – an epic city-wide program of art and performance, a free gift to Wellington. We created this site specific piece on the Hikitia Floating Crane Boat, and gathered our audience on the wharf.
